My father, James Newton, was the editor of the Kearsarge Independent from 1946-48. My family was living in Sutton at that time. While he was there, a man was trapped in a well in which he had been digging. Rescue units from all over assisted in his escape. Dad's article was printed by the AP and he appeared on a weekly news program, Gentlemen of the Press. I was able to find microfilm copies of the paper from that period through the assistance of your librarian. I also recall having my photo taken by a traveling photographer at the Town Hall. Still have the print. Look like a refugee kid. I have also toured your telephone museum. My best wishes to the Warner Historical Society in their efforts of preserving NH past.
