Err on the Side of Saftey!
Posted by Vince Collins | Tags: COED Softball
We are off to another great season so far. It's great to see lots of smiling faces out on the field!
This Co-ed recreational league welcomes every skill level from beginners to seasoned players. We love to see competitive teams but the purpose of this league is to welcome everyone, to exercise in a fun way and to enjoy a sense of community among all adults young and old.
Please err on the side of safety, even if it means missing a tag, or not scoring a run or not making the next base, especially if it will avoid a collision.
We use a safety base at first, require wooden softball bats only, and use soft core softballs, all in the name of safety. The rest is up to us as players to ensure that no one ends up hurt.

Last weekend saw the season opener. After speaking with several of the captains, it appears to be the beginning of another fun-filled and exciting season of softball. We now have 8 teams competing, which is up from 7 last year.
If you aren't on a team, consider heading down to the field with a sack lunch to watch one. Games are on Sundays and the schedule can be found here.

Warner Old School PE has done it again.
This time, we have put together a Warner area recreational COED softball league. All games are played in our home town of Warner down at Riverside Park. 7 people have risen to the challenge of putting together teams and the first games are Sunday, May 15th.
Everyone plays each other once and then there is a fun one day championship tournament June 26th. We will take a break half way through the tournament and celebrate potluck style so be sure to bring your coolers of food and drink. We are also looking for volunteers able to bring down their grills.
Only one question remains, who is going to be the first Annual COED Spring Softball Champion?

By the way, teams shouldn't get their hopes up too high, the trophy won't be pretty ;)
